Hobu Beata Chapman
Hobu Beata Chapman is a lifelong student of Zen. She studied for seven years in the Los Angeles area with Nicolee McMahon Roshi of Three Treasures Zen Community (TTZC.org) before relocating to Santa Cruz, CA where she studied for twelve years at Santa Cruz Zen Center (SCZC.org) with Katherine Thanas Roshi. Hobu was ordained by Thanas Roshi with Zen teacher Darlene Cohen supporting. Beata then became a student of Darlene Cohen of Russian River Zendo (russianriverzendo.org) until her untimely death, after which Beata became a student of Tony Patchell of Russian River Zendo from whom she received transmission of the Dharma in 2013.
Beata is a marketplace practitioner who has had the privilege of monastic practice at the urban temple of San Francisco Zen Center (SFZC.org) and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center. Having worked for over forty years as an organization development consultant and executive coach as well as in human resources, Beata now lives in Ashland, Oregon and serves the local community as a Medicare coach. She teaches in the Bay Area and from her home at no|walls Zendo where the community enjoys twice-yearly body-to-body silent retreats.
